The Truth

From the desk of 2403What is THE TRUTH? According to the Oxford Dictionary, truth is that which is true, real, or actual.

One of the dangers we have as a society is that we let society define what truth is.  It then becomes a majority rule, or the most powerful deciding the truth (remind anyone of the ‘Ministry of Truth’ in George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’?).

When society’s values and truth change over time, it means that the ‘truth’ of today, will not be the ‘truth’ of tomorrow, therefore the ‘truth’ of today is not ‘truth’.  Hmmm, so what can we rely on to be the truth?

To be truth, it must be unchanging.  If you want the best example of unchanging, that is God.  “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6).  That includes Jesus: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).  It was Jesus who said about himself: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

With Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday this month, the truth is that Jesus did die on the cross, He did rise from the dead (Google “resurrection Lee Strobel”) and He did it all for you!

If you want to discuss THE TRUTH, join us for one of our services at 10am each Sunday at 7 Mitchell Court in Romsey.  Particularly if you want to visit on Resurrection Sunday (31 March) or talk about the truth of origins when Creation Ministries visit on 24 March.
